Fondazione Parco del Piano di Magadino
Description
The Magadino Plain is a large, flat area located south of the Alps, in the canton of Ticino, in the area between Bellinzona and Lake Maggiore. In terms of morphology and historical development, it is unique within the canton of Ticino and the entire Swiss Confederation. Indeed, it is the largest flat area in the canton. Over the past decades, significant infrastructure and productive activities have developed within it. Today, the area is a resource for agriculture, as well as an important natural oasis – particularly thanks to the protected Bolle di Magadino area – and a space for recreation and local tourism. Its landscape therefore consists of natural, rural, and anthropogenic elements, making it a territory rich in contrasts and constantly evolving.
