LCFF 2024: “Spring Fever”

Description

Each year, under the guidance of a professional director, Dimitri Academy engages in the creation of a new final work for the Bachelor of Arts in Theatre, destined for an exciting international tour. This year, 2024, renowned Swiss choreographer and dancer Philipp Egli is at the helm of the creation of Spring Fever. It had it's debut in Verscio on May 17, 2024, followed by an adventurous tour in Switzerland and abroad.

«We have chosen to explore Stravinsky's legendary work without focusing on the sacrificial theme, opting instead for a direct approach to the magnificent composition through notes and music. We are shaping a body choreography based on the score, fully immersing ourselves in this extraordinary musical creation. The act of surrendering to this experience elicits spring-like feelings, but at the same time, the need to surrender completely can generate both deep fears and feverish dreams. During an evening of dance, we focus on what happens when we dare to look deeply, accepting closeness and intimacy.

In the context of a concert dance, where our bodies become the instruments that internalize and resonate the score, a fascinating question arises: can a Sacre du Printemps come to life even in the absence of sound?»
