Concert: FM - The Yardbirds

Description

For the second ‘Magic Rock Night’, 60 years after their unique and legendary appearance in Ticino, an authentic piece of history of the world rock scene arrives in Cevio: the legendary The Yardbirds! Co-founder Jim McCarty continues to lead this innovative band of the British Rock Invasion, a crucial connection point between the Blues, British R&B, psychedelic Rock and heavy metal, and a pioneer in the use of innovations such as fuzztone, feedback and distortion. A drummer, singer, songwriter and producer, McCarty is considered one of the driving forces behind the band's unmistakable sound. From the band's inception in 1963 to its induction into the Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame in 1992, the Yardbirds were celebrated for the legendary guitarists who helped write the band's history, including Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page. They expanded their reach into pop, pioneered psychedelic rock and early hard rock/heavy metal, and contributed to many electric guitar innovations that marked these musical genres. From their rib, Led Zeppelin was born! A historic concert, a real must-see event!

Opening the evening was FM, a great British band known for their great choruses, twin guitars and Steve Overland's powerful voice. Formed in 1984 by vocalist Steve Overland, his brother Chris, Pete Jupp and Merv Goldsworthy, their music harks back to seminal bands such as Free and Bad Company. Success was immediate and they consolidated their position at the forefront of British melodic rock with numerous headlining tours and joining bands such as Status Quo, Whitesnake, Foreigner, Journey, Thin Lizzy and Skid Row to name a few. FM means class, musicality and unforgettable music! This year they are celebrating 40 years of pure melodic rock with their 14th studio album, Old Habits Die Hard, and an extensive tour through the UK, Europe and South America, also coming to the Magic Blues stage for the first time.
