The story of two aviation pioneers from the early 1900s: Amelia Earhart, an American born in 1897, the first woman to make a solo transatlantic flight in 1932; and Raymonde de Laroche, the pseudonym of Élise Deroche, born in Paris in 1882, the first woman in the world to obtain a pilot’s license on March 8, 1910.
Both women, in addition to their passion for flying, engaged in a range of other activities that made them famous. Their fascinating stories, though set in the distant past, remain surprisingly relevant today and serve as both a symbol and an example of how concrete, courageous, and positive action can lead human beings to realize their ideals.
