“35 Years of Vent Negru” – Launch of the new album

A concert of folk music from Ticino and the surrounding area, and the launch of the group’s new CD to mark its 35th anniversary.

Vent Negru, founded in 1991, draws its inspiration from the rich heritage of folk songs and music from the southern Alps, which have been passed down to us through oral tradition or via the writings of early collectors.

The trio rediscovers, revives and performs ancient narrative songs, lullabies, dance tunes and songs in the ‘spontaneous singing’ style, enriching this repertoire with new compositions inspired by tradition. Music and storytelling, curiosities, anecdotes and evocative moments, all with the aim of helping to recognise the value of our folk culture. We perform at events and concerts in the most diverse of venues, in the style of the travelling musicians and storytellers of yesteryear.

In 2025, the Federal Office of Culture awarded Vent Negru, jointly with Vox Blenii, the Swiss Music Prize for excellence in musical creation, with the following citation: ‘They have made a significant contribution to the preservation and promotion of Ticino’s musical heritage. Through their research, interpretations and performances, they keep Ticino’s folk music alive, making it accessible to a wide audience.”
